The destination of the extradition is yet to be determined, with requests pending from South Korea and the United States; this decision now rests with Montenegro’s Minister of Justice, Andrej Milovic.
The minister has previously stated that it would be a political decision, as reported by local news. This signals that Kwon’s extradition to the US is likely, as it is a key foreign policy partner of Montenegro. Milovic added:
We want to sign a bilateral extradition agreement as soon as possible, to create a legal framework for future extraditions.
A recent update on Do Kwon’s legal situation in the US is that jurors declared him liable on five counts of fraud on April 5 after a nine-day trial, which Kwon could not attend.
