Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer in the digital asset industry, has acquired a minority stake in Juventus Football Club S.p.A., one of the most decorated football clubs in the world.
Notably, the investment marks a strategic move by Tether as it continues to expand its reach beyond stablecoins and into industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), bitcoin mining, and now professional sports.
Tether’s investment is part of its broader vision to integrate digital assets and blockchain technology into mainstream industries. The company’s flagship stablecoin, USDt, holds a market capitalization exceeding $140 billion and serves over 400 million users globally, particularly in emerging markets.
Now, through this acquisition, Tether aims to bridge the gap between the sports and digital asset sectors.

According to the company, this move is not merely a sponsorship but part of a strategic investment approach that seeks to enhance digital asset adoption within the sports industry.
Tether’s investment arm, separate from its stablecoin reserves, is leading the charge in this initiative. The company is assembling an advisory team that includes figures such as Juan Sartori, a key investor with experience in Sunderland AFC and AS Monaco Football Club.
Accordingly, this collaboration is expected to explore the intersection of AI, biotech, and blockchain technology with professional sports.

Expanding Digital Asset Adoption in Sports
Tether’s foray into professional football is not its first interaction with the sports world. In 2024, its Plan ₿ initiative, launched in collaboration with the City of Lugano, became the official kit sponsor of FC Lugano, a Swiss Super League club.
By investing in Juventus, Tether is reinforcing its commitment to mainstreaming blockchain and stablecoin use beyond financial markets.
