People shopping on the Sony Store Online in Singapore can now pay with cryptocurrency, according to an April 2 announcement from the crypto exchange Crypto.com

Sony Electronics Singapore has added support for USDC

payments on its official web store, working with Crypto.com to make the feature possible.
Currently, only USDC is supported, and payments must go through Crypto.com’s service. This marks the company’s first time offering direct crypto payments in the country.

Crypto.com’s Singapore General Manager, Chin Tah Ang, said that bringing crypto payments to brands like Sony could help more people get used to using digital currencies. He said in the announcement:
We’re pushing to make paying in crypto more mainstream. The company hopes this move will encourage broader use of crypto in everyday shopping.
Sony has said it plans to support more cryptocurrencies in the future, but there is no confirmed timeline for that yet.
The announcement also mentioned that the Sony Store Online is offering two promotions for Crypto.com users to celebrate the launch of USDC payments. 50 eligible users who spend at least $300 using Crypto.com Pay will receive a free pair of LinkBuds. Additionally, 150 qualified users who spend a minimum of $100 will receive 20 USDC.
