You can feed Chat GPT BTC data and depending on the type of regression model equation it comes up with, you can get wildly different BTC predictions for Oct 2025. The ones I favor the most are those that are in the $150K to $250K range. I have found that once it has come up with the BTC historical data since 2010, you need to give it the current BTC price now since its cutoff date was Sep 2021. Then ask it for a best fit polynomial regression equation to fit the historical data. Then ask it to use the equation to come up with end of quarter BTC prices from Mar 2023 to Sep 2025 and put it in a table. Then ask it to do it for other regression equations like exponential, linear, etc.

I'm not inspired by it. But it is something I might consider in the future.
ChatGPT doesn't calculate, and is notoriously bad at providing correct answers to mathematical calculations beyond very basic arithmetic. That's because it doesn't actually calculate anything, but just continues the language pattern it picks up on in the prompt it's given.
Now supposedly, just a few days ago, it was connected with wolfram alpha which could do actual calculations working from natural language. That was just a few days ago though, so I doubt that it is working transparently without issue at this point.
I'll have to do some experimentation with this, but I suspect that the announcements of linking OpenAIs language models with wolfram alpha where somewhat hyperbolic.
It was implied that ChatGPT would automatically turn to wolfram alpha for computational queries, being aware of its own computational limitations. Except ChatGPT isn't self aware, nor can it differentiate between the linguistic relational patterns that make up its own training model and computation.
I suspect that if this is even really working at all at this point in time, it probably requires an explicit request to calculate something with wolfram alpha. It's worth playing around with though. However, I don't think wolfram alpha could do anything with the pattern of numbers you provided anyway, given that they don't represent a rational numeric progression, and even if they did, projecting them would be a fairly high level problem.
It has been suggested that given any numerical pattern the answer to what comes next can be whatever you want because the pattern may look like one thing up to a point, before becoming a different pattern all together, and that the only way to really know for sure what the pattern is, is to see the entire infinite progression. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5… what comes next? Seems like 6 must come next, unless the actual pattern is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, 23… etc.. Or perhaps it's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3… etc..
Additionally, wolfram alphas natural language interpretation is far from intuitively flawless. You can present a mathematical query in natural language to wolfram alpha, but the syntax of your "natural language" must fall within a fairly narrow range of syntax.
Basic arithmetic is pretty flexible, but the more complex your equations, the more strictly limited the syntax which will give you correct results with wolfram alpha.
I'd wager that ChatGPT is yet presenting linguistic patterns and not mathematical ones at all, much less mathematical calculations… all it does is continue a pattern. Thus it probably would have been better to just give it the numbers with no qualifying text at all, because then it would just continue that pattern, since that's all it ever does anyway. However, because it probably doesn't have much reference data within its training data relating to numerical pattern in question, it can probably only relate it to something vaguely similar, like exponential increase, which is obviously incorrect.
By adding the text about what it's being asked to do, it reacts with typical human like language patterns, such as, "i can't predict the future, etc., etc..
Anyway the pattern is obviously not exponentially increasing, as it has also decreased, and given that it stated that it's guess was exponential, we know, that it is wrong.
Not to say that Bitcoin is gonna tank. I don't know. What I do know is that ChatGPT is no numbers wiz, and that this type of usage is basically exactly what it is least suited to.
This will probably get plenty of views, so it's too bad that it seems to be reinforcing the misconception that language models are in any way similar to calculators, despite ChatGPTs reluctance to operate as such.
It's an understandable misconception, given that computers are, as their name suggests, good at computation. Language models are not though.
