Claridge’s hotel in London has a new addition—a new ninth-floor, four-bedroom penthouse that covers the entire roof of the prestigious abode. According to the Financial Times, London’s most expensive hotel suite—six years in the making—costs around £60,000 per night (apparently, Leonardo DiCaprio has already checked in). Naturally, this shrine to opulence also houses 75 (yes, count them) works by Damien Hirst. The FT points out that many of the pieces are drawn from the artist’s 2017 exhibitionTreasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable which was held at billionaire François Pinault’s Venice galleries in 2017. A rather gruesome miniature of Hirst’s sculpture of St Bartholomew sits on a coffee table in the plush new pad (one of the original 12 disciples, Bartholomew was skinned alive). Other works on show by the headline-hitting Brit include the spot painting ZDP (2001) and the 2015 sculpture Hathor. Sounds like a perfect hideaway (if you like Hirst).
