Offchain Labs announced today a further step towards the decentralization of Arbitrum one, namely that they’ve expanded the whitelist of validators to include the following entities:
Validators in the Arbitrum rollup ecosystem serve a unique role- they are able to submit fraud proofs to dispute malfeasance and they’re able to progress the L2 chain in the event that the centralized sequencer is down. Eventually this will be open to anyone, but having a group like this is really a great step forwards. A fraud-proof rollup like Arbitrum only needs one of these validating entities to be honest/good in order for the entire rollup to be secure.
