Regulators hurt in the short term. But long term they give us an adversary to challenge and innovate against. With conflict comes creativty. Bitcoin and some others knew this game way ahead of the regulators, this is why they can only play to stall rather than to stop.
I stopped using ethereum a long time ago because I got tired of paying those high af fees! Gary Gensler doesn't like anything that gives the people an opportunity to make money. Before he moved over to trying to destroy crypto, he completely ruined the penny stock (OTC) market I used to trade in and use for side money to put into crypto. I loathe that guy!

It only makes sense they took control of Ethereum when they build stuff like Quant, DAG, EWT, etc on it. I don't want to get all conspiracy theorist, but all the major cryptos with ties to world governments/organizations that want to integrate with your everyday life are built on ETH. Those projects are dystopian AF.

Long term it'll be really hard to compete with ETH's network security and decentralization. The community is still strong and too many great dapps are being build off it. ETH is a clear winner, no need to buy any other L1 IMO.
