This comes after Trump granted clemency to individuals such as former Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht, who was serving a life sentence for serious crimes. However, Bankman-Fried lacks the same level of public support Ulbricht received, and the specifics of any outreach to the White House remain unclear.
Bankman-Fried’s Legal Situation and Appeal Process
Bankman-Fried’s legal team has also appealed against his 2023 conviction, arguing that his sentence was excessively harsh, considering the recovery of most of FTX’s customer funds.
Despite this, his path to clemency remains uncertain, and many believe that his case lacks the same groundswell of support that led to Ulbricht’s pardon. Additionally, Ryan Salame, a former FTX executive sentenced to more than seven years in prison, also intends to seek a pardon.
