Getting people from a different country to develop land for you for with little or no pay…. THAT'S SLAVERY. AMERICA(US) LITERALLY HAD A WAR OVER THIS.
NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE BACKGROUND AS PART OF YOUR INTRO JOKE
The NFT NPC idea sounds like something Cartman (in South Park) would do…
Love you Jesse!
as long as from software never makes a mobile cash grab game I will still have faith in some developers.
This…..this is literally the plot of a dystopian sci fi novel I read as a teenager. How have we let things get so bad that I'm seeing dystopian sci fi novels become real?!?
Boy, using people from 3rd world countries as living npcs?
That's problematic as FUCK.
I genuinely don't understand the issue. Like, for real.
You hire someone and they act as an npc. That's freaking awesome.
Is the issue because we would be paying them the same as companies in their country would be paying them ?(instead of paying them the amount more developed countries would pay,)?
But that also confuses me because they would want the job. No? Is it better to just not hire them?
Or is the issue not hiring local? That I can understand as being a jerk move.
Still think it's a solid idea but what's the other side?
Mobile ports are just as atrocious as it was before, it's only people that are losing standards and giving in to the ever more shameless and rotten greed; or merely born with phones and don't know any better lmao.
You know whats funny? that "you can be an NPC" idea was already done, there's an MMO that did it a long time ago, players took on the roles NPCs would have in the game, some people even paid to be allowed to play as monsters in the game.
As you can guess the game died, because people got board of it and the game was so tied to players being NPCs that eventually almost everyone stopped playing, and not if you were to play it there's almost nothing you can do as your vary progression was literally tied to other players allowing you to level up.
Thanks for the video 😄 Keep up the good work 👍
….So Game Developers that support NFTs are not only supportin child labor, but are supporting child labor sweat shops in 3rd world countries to become the most disrespected entities in video games, to make the Game Devs rich. Why is this not surprising?
Im Filipino American…. I have 2 words for NFTs: FUCK! THAT!
didn't Arcade ya know the Marvel villain have a whole evil scheme like this once? i feel like he did….
Super gross. Hearing about it is like watching someone getting beaten with a sock full of gold coins.
Nothing signifies more how the nft bros and rich assholes dont view the poor and marginalized as people than wanting them to be non-player characters
Love to hear that techbros and cryptocreeps continue to innovate in the field of exploiting poor people.
OK, on the one hand, this is awful, eat the rich. On the other hand, I've always wanted to be one of those hermits rich people used to pay to live in weird grottoes on their land to make their friends think they're interesting. It'd be dope to get paid to basically do GTA RP… not in a way that hurts the environment or compromises my morals, though
That NFT/child labor as NPCs talk sounds like a weird version of slavery. Those people are so disconnected of reality that I don't think they realize or understand what they say…. It is frightening
Hiring people to be random NPCs to walk around couldn't be profitable, surely?
Just hearing the mention of the TGS, Co-optional, and Konami plinko machines made me feel nostalgic for a simpler time.
RIP TB 💜
The NP in NPC is non player. I’m confused.
Go jesse!!! Go!!!
I've already had this idea, and if someone was intelligent enough to figure out how to do it well, you could even hire vassals to defend a territory in a game that you hold while you're on or offline and pay them. hiring them based on their stats as a sort of resume.
Can't wait for brain implants that connect you to the metaverse where you will be implemented as NPC to do things we had 200 years ago to amuse the NFT aristocracy.
as someone who has always wanted to figure out a way to be INSIDE a game, (i am disabled and games make me able to experience things, even if most of them are fantasy and not reality) the concept is cool, but also its nft's so id never touch it (also, ya know, slavery and such)
As a gamer, this is frustrating. As a dev- I'm prepping to have to fight against it…ridiculous.
Since companies will not (and actually cannot, by law) integrate moral concerns into their business model, it is up to governments to regulate exploitative business practices like loot boxes and gacha into oblivion. Given how captured by business interests most governments are though, I wouldn't hold my breath for this.
I just heard I$I$ is making NFTs now too… not only as propaganda but maybe also for communication. F nfts man
It would be funny if it weren't so sad
Spotted someone pro-slavery as nft expert. First the pure speculation and then this… Horrible statement. Exploitation of the poor… Fuck no.
The NFT "expert" sounds like a parody, but that's the crazy thing. It's NOT
Real life slaves is a no-no, but digital slavery is ok, let's not mind the fact that the only people who would opt for it would be people at the end of their ropes, am I right? Unless you're in an Asian country. I've learned kids get bullied to farm other people's accounts, so they already have that there and they don't need to pay them either.
Thanks for the news!😀
NFTs and crypto only attracts schemers, con-artists, insecure trend-hoppers and money-driven morons. No one sane thinks it is good business. A ponzi only works for the stupidest among us.
If someone offers to pay me $20/hour to "work" an 8-hour shift as an NPC via an NFT game, I'm gonna demand cash payments. Just in case.
This cannot be true… Right? Please?
The irony is, this is once again another example of how NFTs have no unique utility and that the blockchain is unnecessary to this implementation, because there are already people in the Philippines collecting gold and grinding characters in WoW and Runescape and other low end friendly online games for cash, as ridiculous as it sounds.
Did jesse just recommend the diablo: immoral model????
NFT Sweatshops, LITERALLY.
Pretty soon the only good games will be indie games, because they are not polluted by the greedy, selfish money-men like games from big companies are.
Oh, great. Slavery 2.0.
Capitalism is fucking disgusting, and it brings nothing but ruin to whatever area it is introduced to.
Ok so if I am getting this right, they want to implement what is basically indentured servitude, which is actually insane
Totalbiscuit doing a 360 in his grave.
NPC, (NON PLAYER CHARACTER), NFT game maker, lets hire people to PLAY as an NPC. what do we call people who play something, a player, so these people would be PNPC's? wack
The sooner NFTs die a brutal and sudden death, preferably through legislation, the better.
Been talking to a friend recently about how the games industry is being ruined by business. This hits it right on the head.
isnt it cheaper jsut get ai?
Lol fuck off, I'd LOVE to have my job being an NPC wtf is wrong with people
