Unless electronic hardware suddenly becomes dirt cheap I think VR Facebook is doomed by inflation.
The meta verse is a joke
None or very few. TikTok is calling it Meth with a meme of Zuckerberg with his teeth all blacked out from drug usage. Europe can barely keep the lights on and parts of the US in the same condition from drought and raggedy power grids and Infrastructure. Plus, with recession crashing down in 2023 no money for foolishness. Many already food insecure. Just close it down, it's useless tech.
Make meta like the movie "gamer" then things will get interesting and scary
If you are really worried about sustaining your household are you really gonna drive to work to strap some bullshit on your head and go inside a imaginary world? Metaverse is not an adult conversation. It's certifiable and Zuckerberg should be locked in a straight jacket.

FB should use power of marketplace to invest in fintech and crypto. VR is a losing proposition. It will never see mass adoption. Most people can’t use VR tech beyond few hours. It’s due to biological limitations.
The metaverse is early and new and that means there’s a lot of creative freedom in how it evolves. But there’s also a lot of skepticism and challenges like data privacy and cybersecurity that need to be addressed.
